STRAMA Deep Dive Series: Strengthening Strategic Thinking Through Shared Learning

The AGSB Student Council once again successfully mounted one of the most impactful and well-attended student initiatives of the academic year through the STRAMA Deep Dive Series—a comprehensive academic support program designed to help students navigate one of the most rigorous and defining components of the MBA journey: Strategic Management.

Conceptualized as a three-part learning series, the initiative was intentionally designed to provide students with a more structured, progressive, and holistic STRAMA experience. Recognizing that STRAMA goes far beyond simply completing a paper, the Student Council developed the series to help students build competencies gradually across strategic analysis, financial evaluation, recommendation development, academic writing, and defense preparation.

The three-part format allowed participants to absorb concepts more effectively, revisit insights between sessions, and continuously strengthen their understanding throughout different stages of their STRAMA journey.

The series officially opened with its first session hosted at the AGSB Clark Campus in collaboration with the Student Government of Clark, marking a meaningful cross-campus partnership that reinforced the Council’s commitment to creating inclusive and accessible learning opportunities for students across the AGSB community.

Throughout the program, students were guided by an esteemed lineup of AGSB faculty members, alumni, and industry practitioners who generously shared both academic expertise and real-world strategic insights. The series featured distinguished speakers including Dr. Carlos Gatmaitan, Dr. Edgar Surtida III, Dr. Marivic Castillo, Dr. Roselle Azucena, Prof. Josh Bosiños, Dr. Leveric Ng, and alumnus Arbie de la Rosa, whose collective experience enriched discussions across all sessions.

Their contributions helped transform the STRAMA Deep Dive Series from a traditional review initiative into a dynamic learning platform grounded in practical application, executive thinking, and collaborative mentorship.

Discussions throughout the series emphasized that strong strategy development requires more than theoretical frameworks. Students were encouraged to critically evaluate industries, organizational realities, implementation feasibility, financial sustainability, and long-term business impact. Speakers also highlighted the importance of translating analytical insights into actionable recommendations that can withstand both academic scrutiny and real-world business challenges.

The program further explored how the value of discipline plays a crucial role in STRAMA success. Participants received guidance on structuring papers effectively, strengthening strategic narratives, preparing for defenses, anticipating panel questions, and presenting recommendations with confidence and clarity.

By dividing the initiative into three focused sessions, the Student Council created a learning environment that mirrored the actual progression students experience throughout their STRAMA development process—from foundational understanding, to formulation and analysis, and ultimately to presentation and defense readiness.

More importantly, the STRAMA Deep Dive Series became a strong reflection of the collaborative culture within AGSB. Students from different programs, and campuses came together in a shared space of learning, support, and professional growth. The initiative fostered not only academic preparation, but also meaningful conversations and peer engagement among members of the AGSB community.

The overwhelming participation and positive reception throughout the series underscored the growing value of student-led initiatives that directly respond to the academic and professional needs of graduate students. It also reaffirmed the AGSB Student Council’s continuing commitment to designing purposeful programs that elevate the student experience beyond the classroom.

As one of the Student Council’s flagship academic initiatives this year, the STRAMA Deep Dive Series stands as a testament to what collaborative leadership, shared learning, and community-driven excellence can achieve. Through the support of faculty, alumni, campus partners, and students themselves, the initiative became more than just a review program—it became a meaningful platform for developing strategic thinkers and future leaders within the AGSB community.
